Psychologist in New York for adult ADHD, Autism & OCD

I'm Dr. Rachel Frank, a licensed clinical psychologist in New York. I evaluate adults for ADHD and Autism, treat OCD with ERP, and coach parents raising neurodivergent kids. Every session happens over secure video, anywhere in the state.

Most people who reach out to me have already tried. They've called the practice a friend recommended and been told the next opening is months away. They've sat through a round of therapy that helped a little but never touched the actual problem. Or they've read enough about adult ADHD at two in the morning to be fairly sure, and now they want someone qualified to tell them either way.

That's the work. I'm licensed in New York State, I've spent my career on ADHD, Autism, and OCD specifically, and I see everyone by video, which means the specialist you can reach isn't limited to the ones with an office near your subway stop.

Who I see across New York

My license covers the whole state, not just the city. In practice that means I work with adults in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island, and just as often with people in Nassau and Suffolk on Long Island, in Westchester and Rockland, up through the Hudson Valley, and out to the Capital Region, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo.

The geography matters more than it should. Specialized adult ADHD and Autism testing clusters in a handful of Manhattan practices, and clinicians genuinely trained in ERP for OCD are scarce almost everywhere else in the state. If you live in Poughkeepsie or Binghamton, that has historically meant a long drive or no option at all. Telehealth is the part of this that actually fixes something.

What I offer New York clients

Adult ADHD evaluation

Two to three video sessions plus standardized questionnaires you complete in between. You get a clear diagnostic answer and recommendations built around how your attention and executive function actually behave. More detail in ADHD Assessment in New York: What to Expect.

Adult Autism assessment (MIGDAS)

About three sessions using the MIGDAS interview, a sensory-based conversation rather than a checklist. It tends to work far better for adults who learned to mask in childhood and were missed as a result. See Adult Autism Assessment in NY & CT.

ERP therapy for OCD

Exposure and Response Prevention for contamination fears, Pure O, relationship OCD, harm intrusions, scrupulosity, and health anxiety. I trained in ERP at The Center for CBT. Read Finding an OCD Therapist.

Parent coaching, including PDA

For New York parents whose kids melt down over requests that look small from the outside. We work on reading the nervous system and lowering demand pressure. Coaching isn't restricted by state licensing, so I can do this with families anywhere. See Parent Coaching for Neurodivergent Children & PDA.

Therapy and intensives

Individual therapy at $300 for a 45-minute session, covering OCD, ADHD, anxiety, and binge eating. Multi-hour intensives are available when a weekly hour isn't enough to build momentum.

My New York training

I trained here. My clinical work included St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan and the Bronx VA, where I specialized in DBT, before I trained in ERP for OCD at The Center for CBT. My Ph.D. is from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, and my B.A. is from Stanford.

I also have ADHD, and I'm raising neurodivergent kids. That doesn't replace the training, but it does change the conversation. When you tell me you spent the whole weekend dreading a fifteen-minute errand, I'm not going to ask you why you didn't just do it.

Fees and insurance for New York clients

I'm a private-pay practice, so I don't bill insurance directly. After each session I give you a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. A lot of New York plans cover some portion of out-of-network outpatient mental health, so it's worth a phone call to your plan to ask what they'd reimburse before you decide.

Individual therapy is $300 per 45-minute session. Evaluations and intensives are priced by scope, and we go through the number on the free consultation call before you commit to anything.

Common questions from New York clients

Are you licensed to practice psychology in New York?

Yes. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist in New York State, which means I can see any adult physically located in New York by telehealth. I did a good portion of my own clinical training in the city, at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital and at the Bronx VA.

Do I need to live in New York City to work with you?

No. My license covers all of New York State, and because sessions are held over secure video, where you live inside the state doesn't affect access. I work with adults in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island, and equally with people in Long Island, Westchester, the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region, and further upstate.

Where can I get tested for adult ADHD in New York?

I do adult ADHD evaluations by video for clients across New York. The process usually runs two to three sessions, with standardized questionnaires you complete in between. Adult ADHD testing is harder to find than it should be, particularly outside Manhattan, and telehealth is part of how I try to close that gap.

How do I find an ERP-trained OCD therapist in New York?

Ask directly whether the clinician was trained in Exposure and Response Prevention and how often they use it. Plenty of good therapists have never been trained in ERP, which is why OCD treatment so often stalls. I trained in ERP at The Center for CBT and use it as the main treatment for OCD.

Do you take insurance in New York?

I'm private pay and don't bill insurance directly. You get a superbill after each session to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many New York plans reimburse part of an out-of-network outpatient mental health session, so it's worth calling your plan to ask.
